acarya Kalsang Tashi - Stress and emotion management

Sat May 10th
4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Stress arises from many factors: not knowing how to control our emotions, working on too many projects at once, from our hopes and assumption for the future, and the mistakes we make. The Buddha dharma helps us to work mindfully, with one thing at a time, and then doing it carefully with understanding and experience. There are many methods for stress management – yoga, exercise, gardening, speaking with specialists, spending time with our pets and our friends, and these methods can be helpful in the short term. The Buddha dharma engages us in a long-term approach, encouraging us to examine our current view and change our focus by practicing containment, kindness and self-love.

If you have unwanted stress in your life, or have a professional interest in this field, ācārya Kalsang Tashi will share his 20 years of practice and learning in this field of psychological development.

ācārya Kalsang Tashi is a lecturer of Buddhism at K. J. Somaiya University, Mumbai, India. He studied Tibetan Buddhism for 18 years at a Tibetan monastery in India. Kalsang Tashi’s article entitled “Health and Buddhism” was selected for the first prize of the dhammasākacchā National Conference in 2019 organized by the Department of pāli, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, India. Kalsang Tashi is a scholar of Buddhist psychology and philosophy from Sera Jey Monastic University, India. He is pursuing his Ph.D. in Buddhist epistemology at the International Buddhist College, in Thailand.
